INDIANAPOLIS – As the business’ one-year anniversary approaches, the owners of The Wine Market Fountain Square are expanding with a second location slated to open in Historic Irvington in late October.
The Wine Market Irvington will be located at 5543 East Washington Street, in the heart of Irvington.
The location, formerly Bittersweet Café, will receive a fresh coat of paint as well as other improvements to provide a welcoming environment for guests and neighbors to sit, sip and share wine and small plates.
Just as in the Fountain Square location, The Wine Market Irvington will focus on a selection of wines from around the world, primarily from smaller producers. Selections will reflect all major wine varietals and wine-producing regions, with a few unique offerings as well, and most bottles will be $20 or less.
Partners Kris Bowers and Zachary Davis said Irvington was perfect for their second location because of the strong neighborhood identity and welcoming business environment.
“Our goal is to provide a local gathering place for neighbors to enjoy wine and conversation in addition to being able to grab a bottle to go,” Bowers said.
The partners said they are working to provide a family dining area, private space for small gatherings and comfortable seating for those wishing to relax. They will offer wines by the glass, in-store by the bottle, and also carryout along with a menu of select small plates including local charcuterie meats and cheeses.
“We aim to provide a coffee house vibe with wine. We want a place you can relax and enjoy time with others while discovering affordable wine,” Davis said.
An opening date and hours will be shared as finalized in late September.
